Pick up at Albury Railway Station and transport to Tallangatta Motor Inn to enjoy a home-cooked dinner.
First, we go to the Red Stag Restaurant for morning tea. We then travel towards “The Hut” lookout at Mount Buffalo in the alpine region of Victoria where we enjoy an open fire and decadent lunch. From here we admire panor amic views of imposing granite outcrops, tumbling waterfalls and snow gums, before heading back to our motel in Tallangatta for Happy Hour and complimentary cheese platters followed by a light meal
We journey to the Hume Weir to admire the powerful weir wall and take in the views of Lake Hume – which holds six times the volume of water contained in Sydney Harbour. After morning tea at the weir, we travel to the quaint town of Rutherglen, located in one of Australia’s most famous wine regions. Our lunch destination – the most famous pie shop in Australia – Parker Pies, some with samples from the local wineries in their mixtures! Their traditional pies and gourmet pastries have won over 200 awards by using only the freshest, locally sourced ingredients. After sampling the local food, we spend the afternoon relaxing and wine-tasting at wineries in the region. Late afternoon we will travel to Wodonga and enjoy dinner at the Goods Shed Craft Beer Cafe, which is the first tenant in the historic Goods Shed, built in the 1870s, at Junction Place, Wodonga. The beer cafe opened in the eastern end of the Goods Shed on Church Street in February 2016 and showcases Australian craft beer, gourmet pizzas, share plates and mains featuring regional produce plus a range of fine local wines.
We travel through the picturesque dairy region of the Mitta Valley before arriving at Dartmouth Dam – for a guided tour! Due to the season, you may witness the formidable cascades from the dam before returning to the Dartmouth township for a hotel lunch. We then travel back to Tallangatta for games and afternoon tea.
Weather permitting, we depart for the Mt Hotham Snow Resort. En route we visit the townships of Bright for a scrumptious morning tea at a local café and Harrietville which is at the base of Mt Feathertop before heading up the mountain to one of Australia’s most iconic snow resorts. There we admire the beauty of the snow crested mountains (staying in the comfort of the bus!) before we head to the Dinner Plain Hotel where we enjoy a hearty lunch. We then are on the bus taking in all the snow views and we finish for the day at Tallangatta Motor Inn for dinner.
We tour to the historic gold-mining town of Beechworth, where the Victorian Gold Rush has left Beechworth with an impressive legacy of over 30 National Trust-listed buildings, each with its own colourful past. We enjoy a tour on the bus of the Beechworth Gaol, where Ned Kelly and his gang were incarcerated, and also look into the rich gold history of the town. As part of our Beechworth excursion we partake in lunch at the Beechworth Bakery. We then head back to Tallangatta for an afternoon tea and a Christmas in July dinner prepared by the team! We also have a complimentary Kris Kringle present for each guest.
After breakfast at the Tallangatta Motor Inn we say our farewell’s. The bus then takes you for a visit to the famous Peard’s Nursery Café before dropping you at the train station for your journey home!
