Pick up at Albury Railway Station and transport to Tallangatta Motor Inn to enjoy a home-cooked dinner.
Today we journey towards Mt Beauty, enjoying morning tea amongst the mountains heading towards Tawonga Lookout to gaze down into the spectacular Kiewa Valley and look to Victoria’s highest peak, Mount Bogong. We will have an early lunch at Mt Beauty before travelling to the town of Bright, renowned for its Autumn leaves. We enjoy some time walking around this gorgeous township before heading for afternoon tea along the Ovens River. We then head home to Tallangatta for dinner.
We travel to Lake Sambell, site of the Old Rocky Mountain Gold Mine, for morning tea. We then take a tour of the historic gold-mining town of Beechworth and visit the Murray Breweries (built in 1865 on the site of a natural spring) and the famous Beechworth Carriage Museum, which features 20 horse-drawn vehicles and harnesses from the 19th and early 20th centuries. After lunch at the famous Beechworth Bakery, we explore this historic town to admire its unique architecture and boutique shops before heading back to Tallangatta for dinner.
We tour in a north-easterly direction through the Shelley Pine Plantations on our way to Corryong, where the township claims historic resident stockman Jack Riley (1841–1914) was the inspiration for Banjo Patterson’s famous Australian bush poem, The Man from Snowy River. Next, we travel to the township of Khancoban, nestled in the foothills of the Snowy Mountains, for a short tour of the area. We then tour the Murray 2 Power Station, an impressive hydroelectric and irrigative system in the Snowy Mountains for our lunch, before heading back to Corryong for afternoon tea. We finish for the day at Tallangatta Motor Inn for dinner.
After breakfast at the Tallangatta Motor Inn we say our farewell’s. The bus then takes you for a visit to the famous Peard’s Nursery Café before dropping you at the train station for your journey home!
